CNS Response Builds Complete Production Platform on Force.com at a Fraction of the Cost

Challenge

  • CNS Response—developers of the Referenced-EEG (rEEG®), a patented technology for behavioral care, provides personalized medication guidance to psychiatrists and other physicians based on the patient’s own brain function—needed a platform on which to manage production and related business activities.
  • The company required a secure, scalable, and reliable way to integrate and share data between custom data systems and partner physicians, technicians, and neurologists.
  • CNS Response also wanted a way to organize workflows, capture and store data, and present results in an easy-to-use format for physicians and patients.
  • Other requirements included support for sales, marketing, and customer service functions. Plus, the company wanted a solution it could easily deploy globally.

Solution

  • As an existing Salesforce CRM customer, CNS Response decided to build its solution on salesforce.com’s Force.com platform. The platform's cloud-computing model allows CNS to create robust on-demand business applications at significantly reduced development costs.
  • The company developed a custom production application to gather data and suggest treatment. Workflows ensure information flows among physicians, technicians, and neurologists.
  • CNS Response modified Salesforce CRM's customer portal to manage patient data, including medications and technician visits. A combination of Force.com's code and pages, .NET, and HTML lets the company store information in one centralized location for presentation.
  • The company linked a custom technicians portal built on .NET to Force.com for secure access to Testing schedules and data upload. A SQL database stores proprietary Referenced-EEG® (rEEG® ) data which is accessed via the Force.com API.
  • CNS also integrated the company’s outcomes database and proprietary laboratory system, allowing physicians to securely access patient reports.
  • With Force.com's pages, the company creates and stores personalized, medication response and sensitivity data and brain images identifying degrees of brain abnormality.
  • Custom applications and tabs provide fast access to information on patients, tests and medications, as well as corporate business applications including marketing requests, marketing campaigns, and overall company projects.

Results

  • With Force.com's cloud-computing model, CNS Response quickly and easily built a complete production system—and moved its production processes onto Force.com in 4 months.
  • Developing on Force.com cost only 25 percent of what it would have cost to build the same solution using .NET or Java.
  • CNS Response now has an end-to-end solution for managing customer data and workflows and providing medication sensitivity recommendations for patients.
  • The company reduced test processing time from 3 days to 24 hours. Production time also has decreased significantly.
  • Future plans include call center and QuickBooks integration plus international deployment.
